Storage Tips

Household Items:

Plan your storage space. Allow for walkways. Place frequently accessed items in the front.
Create an inventory of stored items to keep at home.
Place your boxes on 2'x 4' boards or pallets. All concrete floors may become damp and cold.
You MAY NOT store anything combustible or hazardous.
Use uniformly sized, strong boxes for easy stacking.
Cover stuffed furniture with a protective cover to protect from dust.
To prevent bug infestation and rodents do not store food or food items.
Secure your unit with a high quality round disc lock.

Vehicles - Enclosed Storage:

Determine the storage space needed by measuring the entire vehicle. Be sure to include the hitch, motor, ladders, swim platform, rear spare tires and anything else that may affect the length.
Be clear about the height clearance you will need to get under the door opening.
Use a 2' x 4' to push the garage door into a completely open position before backing in your vehicle.
Use a wheel chock, board or brick as a stopping point to avoid damaging your vehicle by backing into a wall or bollard.
Remove all food and food items from vehicle before placing into storage to deter bugs.
Hang wet items such as lifejackets and water toys to avoid mildew in your vehicle.
Secure your unit with a high quality round disc lock.

Vehicles - Outdoor Storage:

Determine the entire length of the vehicle so that we may assign you to an outdoor parking space that will be easy for you to back into and will not block traffic.
Center your vehicle in the middle of your parking space to avoid crowding your neighbors.
Use a wheel chock, board or brick to prevent your trailer from rolling after you have unhooked it from your truck.
Protect your vehicle from sinking during the wet, rainy season by placing boards or wheel leveling blocks under your tires and hitch.
To limit UV exposure to your vehicle and tires consider purchasing a high quality tarp constructed of breathable and waterproof material.
Check your tarps after rain and wind storms to ensure your vehicle is protected.
Ozone and UV rays are also hard on tires. Protect your tires from UV damage, dry rot and sidewall damage by using tire covers and ensuring they stay properly filled with air.
Consider removing your boat and RV batteries and taking them home between trips.
Secure your vehicle or trailer hitch with a high quality lock.
Do not leave personal items that are easily accessible in your vehicle.
Do not leave food or food products in your vehicle that will draw animals and bugs.
